ATC coaches athletes in Long Jump, Triple Jump, Hurdles and Sprint Development, from middle school through college and beyond.

A Practical Starting Point

ASSESSMENT PURPOSE

Every athlete comes to ATC with something different. Some need help with technique. Some have athletic ability but haven’t had much event-specific coaching. Others are already successful competitors trying to find the next area they can improve.

The assessment gives us time to watch the athlete, understand what they’re working toward, and decide what deserves the most attention.

We focus on the athlete in front of us. We do not run every athlete through the same checklist.

WHO IT SERVES

Is the ATC Assessment Right for Your Athlete?

The assessment is designed for athletes who want more specialized development in:

Long Jump

Approach development, takeoff, flight and landing mechanics.

Triple Jump

Approach, phase execution, rhythm, balance and continuity through the jump.

Hurdles

Rhythm, hurdle mechanics, lead/trail-leg efficiency and movement between barriers.

Sprint Development

Acceleration, posture, mechanics and the sprint qualities that support event performance

What We May Look At

ASSESSMENT SCOPE

The assessment focuses on the areas most relevant to the athlete’s event, experience and goals.

Approach Consistency and Speed
Takeoff Position and Mechanics
Long- or Triple-jump Phase Execution
Hurdle Rhythm and Lead/Trail-leg Mechanics
Sprint Posture and Acceleration
Speed and Movement Efficiency
Strength, Stability, Elasticity and Coordination
Technical Understanding of the Event
Current Personal Records and Competition Goals
Training Needs and Recommended Coaching Frequency

Not every athlete will be evaluated in every area. Coach William and Coach Frank decide what to evaluate based on the athlete, the event, and what they observe.

How It Works

Process

1. Tell us about the athlete

Complete the short assessment request with the athlete’s event, experience, goals and areas of concern.

2. ATC Confirms the Appointment
We contact you directly to confirm the date, time, location and any preparation details.

3. Meet With ATC
Attend a 60–90 minute assessment at Northland Christian School unless we arrange another location.

4. We Assess and Discuss
William and/or Frank observe the athlete, identify the main development priorities and discuss what we see.

5. Get a Recommendation
We recommend the next step based on the athlete’s needs and the level of coaching that makes sense.

NEXT STEP

You'll Leave Knowing What Comes Next

At the end of the assessment, we’ll explain what deserves the most attention and recommend the training option that makes the most sense for the athlete. There is no requirement to sign up for training after the assessment. Our job is to give you an honest view of what we see and what we believe will help the athlete improve.

Individual Training — $45 per session

For athletes who need occasional technical help, meet preparation, a specific correction, or supplemental coaching.

ATC Monthly Membership — $300 per month

For athletes who need consistent coaching, technical development, progression and accountability.

Specialized Coaching Matters

WHY ATC?

ATC works specifically with jumpers, hurdlers and sprinters. The coaching is built around the technical demands of those events, not a general conditioning program.

We use assessment, event instruction, training design, performance feedback and competition experience to help athletes understand what needs to improve and how to work on it.

Avionics FAQ's

Is the athlete assessment really free?

Yes. There is no charge for the initial assessment and no long-term commitment is required.

How long does the assessment take?

Approximately 60–90 minutes.

What will my athlete be evaluated on?

That depends on the athlete’s event, experience, goals and what we observe. We do not use the same assessment for every athlete.

Where are assessments held?

ATC training is based at Northland Christian School in the North Houston area. We’ll confirm the location when the assessment is scheduled.

What happens after the assessment?

We’ll discuss the athlete’s main development needs and recommend the next step. That may be a $45 individual session or the $300 monthly membership.

Do I have to sign up for training afterward?

No. The assessment helps us determine what the athlete needs and whether ATC is a good fit.

I don’t live in Houston. Can I still work with ATC?

Yes. Athletes outside the Houston area can use ATC Remote Coaching for Long Jump, Triple Jump and Sprint Hurdles.
